Legal Aid
Legal Aid Ontario is a publicly funded organization that helps pay for legal services that individuals would otherwise be unable to get. It aims to fulfill the Government’s obligations as laid out in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Section 10
The rights in section 10 apply when a person is arrested or detained. These people also have the right to talk to a lawyer to get legal advice about their situation.
Section 12
A party or witness in any proceedings who does not understand or speak the language in which the proceedings are conducted or who is deaf has the right to the assistance of an interpreter.” so because of this and other protections Legal Aid Ontario will pay for the cost of your lawyer and your interpreter. If you cannot pay for them without assistance.
